FINISH

DEXterity Natural Lite

As part of an infrastructure improvement initiative across the Florida Turnpike, DEX was selected to fabricate durable and sustainable site furnishings for the Fort Drum Service Plaza. With millions of travelers passing through annually, the project demanded long-lasting materials that could withstand heavy use, environmental exposure, and evolving design expectations.

DEX produced a collection of high-performance concrete benches, seating units, and planters, each cast as a hollow, monolithic form. This design approach not only enhances structural integrity but also reduces material volume and weight—minimizing environmental impact during transport and installation.

To enhance comfort and add warmth, ipe wood slats were integrated into the seating surfaces. The pairing of natural wood and clean-lined concrete provides a timeless balance of texture, durability, and ease of maintenance.

Highlights:

  • Hollow-cast monolithic concrete forms for reduced material usage
  • Integrated ipe wood seating surfaces for comfort and warmth
  • Low-maintenance elements built for long-term public use
  • DEXterity™ Natural Lite finish for a clean, natural concrete tone
  • Supports a more sustainable approach to transit infrastructure

This project exemplifies DEX’s ability to deliver thoughtful, engineered concrete solutions that support both aesthetic and environmental goals in public infrastructure design.
